சம்பத் என்பவன் யார்?
சம்பத்,தன் மனம் போனபோக்கில் தான் ஆசைப்பட்ட வாழ்கையை தங்குதடையின்றி வாழ்தவன்.தன் சிறுவயது தொடங்கி இளம் பருவம்,நடு வயது என தன் வாழ்கையை அதன் போக்கில் வாழ்ந்தவன். தனக்கு அறிமுகமானவர்களை தன்னை வெறுக்கவும் அதே சமயத்தில் அன்புகாட்டவும் வைத்தவன்.இப்படி ஒரு வாழ்கையை வாழ நம்மால் முடியவில்லையே என நண்பர்களை ஏங்கவைத்தவன்.இயற்கைக் காதலன்.நாத்திகன்.பெண் காதலன் ஆனால் ஆபாசத்தை விரும்பாதவன்.
தன். குழந்தை பருவத்தில் செய்த குற்றத்திற்காக தன்னிடம் வெறுப்பை உமிழ்ந்த தந்தையை அடித்தவன்,குடும்பத்தை சிறுதும் வெறுக்காதவன்,தன் மீது காதல் கொண்ட பெண் தன்னை தகுதியில்லாதவன் என ஒதுக்கிவிட்டும் அவள் மீது கோபம் கொள்ளாதவன்.தன்னைப் போல் ஒத்த கருத்தை கொண்ட மனைவியை கரம்பிடித்தவன்.முதுமையையும் வென்றவன்.சமுதாயத்தின் பார்வையில் அவன் ஒரு உருப்படாதவன்.அவனைப் பொறுத்தவரை முழுமையானவன். அவன் இருந்தவரை சந்தோஷமாய் வாழ்ந்தான்.

Twenty years of magical music up.Not just twenty years,successful twenty years.The man who changed the protocol of Indian music and broke all genres and created some unique sound and spectacular music is now completing two decades(OMG!).What an impact he had created,creating within us.As introduced in a very critically acclaimed Manirathnam's 'Roja' at August 15th 1992 indian music industry got a child named 'ALLAH RAKHA RAHMAN'.As a newcomer he successfully fulfilled his duty of giving some good music for the film 'Roja' and got National Award for best music direction. He entered industry in the early 90's he introduced Electronic revolution in the music industry especially in Tamil music.
He takes the first place in introducing electronic synthesizers,keyboards and recording instruments into the scene as we know he is the master in it. He is the one who evacuated the strong presence of Maestro 'ILAYARAAJA' his all time competitor(but Raja is known for his excellence in his Orchestration).Still there is a 'cold war' between these two legends and also with there fans.Rahman introduced the new genres to music when he joined with the innovative director 'Shankar' as started with 'Chikku Bukku rayilae' to 'Irumbilae oru idhayam' (Endhiran) they both done some very good and different music.When Rahman comes to visionary Manirathnam his music goes to a very different and incomparable level.Started with Roja and they continued to give some bestest albums of all time like Bombay,Thiruda Thiruda,Kannathil Muthamittal and still they are hungry for giving more inventive.
As Francis Ford Coppola said 'Art depends on Luck and Talent' Rahman got both vastly.He used his talent at the right time at the right place.As he produced some Western Classical music in indian style he also used to inform the critics that he is capable of doing some good tamil traditional folk songs in Bharathi Raja's films.Bharathi Raja who joined Rahman's hands in the film called 'Kizhakku Cheemayile' in 1993 his songs sounded differently from his previous releases he continued to work with Bharathi Raja for some films.As a composer it was a great challenge in working with different styles of filmmakers at a time but he made it very easily he continued his run with the films Duet,May Madham,Karuthamma,Uyire,Uzhavan,Jeans,Mr.Romeo and in each album he proved he is different and not in the usual path of others.
Bollywood Entry:
As we know talented people go for places,he can't be in a small circle of Tamil film music
so when he got a offer from Ram Gopal Varma in a film called 'Rangeela' in 1995.Seeing his excellence Bollywood compared him with 'RD Burman' a musical legend and he proved that he was worth for it by continuing his films like Taal,Dil se, and all his previous albums have been dubbed in hindi for Bollywood music lovers.Rahman balanced himself in doing both Tamil and Hindi films and pioneerd himself in music industry as powerful musician and went to an unreachable height.He worked with Bollywood big shots like Subhash Ghai and Ashutosh Gowariker.
When Manirathnam's 'Alaipayuthey' released the songs got some international standard in it.His songs played all around globe and the name AR.Rahman had become a global attraction.After 2000 he restricted himself doing selected films in both Tamil and Hindi its not because of pressure but becoz of the failure of the fims he made music for example his Tamil film 'Sangamam' and 'Rhythm' which got some quality music but film got failed in box office and in Hindi his great musical 'Thaksak' and 'Zubeidaa' are total washout!
But this decision didin't reduced his popularity and his music hunger instead it increased an eager to his fans about his next album.Most likeable and innovative albums came after this decision in both languages like 'Kandukondain Kandukondain' in Tamil and in Hindi 'Lagaan'.In Lagaan as a periodical film he gave a standout songs and great feel in Back ground score.In 2003 he made music for a chinese film named 'Warriors of Heaven and Earth' and he got a international accolades.His track in this film 'Dacoit Duel' is still copying by some other Music directors legally or illegally for their film's Back ground music!
Music videos and Private Albums:
He made music other than films like 'Vandhe Matharam' in 1997 which shook the country and every youth was singing 'Thaai manne vanakkam' and 'Maa tujhe Salaam' and still now in independence days this album songs are the favourites.Then he continued with 'Jana Gana Mana' in 2000 as the album got negative review for not making National anthem in 56 seconds so he re-released in 2006 which sold millions.Still now he made 6 albums including 'Gurus of Peace' 'Connections','Pray for me brother','One Love','Fantasy, and recent was 'Super Heavy'(2011).
Collabaration:
Rahman collabarated with many indian and international artist. His first collabaration occured in 2004 with 'Andrew Llyod Webber in his musical 'Bombay Dreams' he also collabarte dwith Indian greats like Zakir Hussain and Kunnakudi vaidhyanadhan in their albums 'Colors' and 'Thaen Vanthu Paayuthu' repectively.He made several collabaration then after and his peak of collabaration was with Pop icon 'Michael Jackson' in 'Ekam Satyam' in the year 1998.He is continuing to collabarate with other international artist like Kylie Minogue in the film 'Blue' and Craig Armstrong with the film 'Elizabeth: the golden Age'.
Hollywood Entry:
He made some English and musical films like 'Elizabeth: the golden age' and 'Lord of the rings(musical)' but his proper Hollywood happened in 2009 with 'Slumdog Millionaire' directed by British director Danny Boyle that made him a very well known name all over the world as the film got the critical reception and song 'Jai Ho' become a anthem not only in India but also all over the world and opened wide door to indian music industry he continued to work with other Hollywood projects like 'Couples Retreat' and Danny Boyle's '127 Hours' which he got more attention from western audiences.He got some major awards for those films he made music.
Awards and accolades:
We know he got National Award for his first film itself and he continued to get three other for his other films Kannathil muthamittal,Minasara Kanavu,Lagaan.He got '25 filmfare' award in both north and south which is the record that nobody can brake in future too.He is the one music director who got most nominations in Fimfare and National awards.He is the only Indian Music Compose who got 'Academy award(Oscars)' not one but two and a 'Golden Globe' and a 'BAFTA' his award hunt still counting he is also the one who got more nomination in Oscar nomination in just two years he got four nomination in the span of two years this was a new record and we know it will not stop still he stops making music!He represented india in 'Nobel Prize Concert' and 'Oscars 2012' with Hans Zimmer.He is the onlt Indian who sold 100 millions of soundtrack and TIME magazine mentioned him as 'World's most Prominent and Prolific Film Compose' along with greats like 'Ennio Morricone' and 'Nino Rota' and his album 'Roja' as the 'Top 10 Soundtracks of all time' and he got honory doctorates from Middlesex University and Aligarh Muslim university.
Future Rahman:
Comparing his first ten years the second was somewhat low its because of his work pressure in various industries like Tamil,Hindi,Telgu and other indian languages.He also want to concentrate in hollywood too.But under pressure he gave us some best albums like 'Delhi 6' and 'Rockstar' and in Tamil 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya' and 'Sakkarakatti'.Still his songs are the charbusters in all Televisions and FM's and in web getting millions of hits in Youtube.He is now in position to describe a new shape to indian music so he want to make himself to take indian music industry to another level as many new composers following his path like Amit Trivedi,Ram Sampath,Yuvan,Anirudh,Mickey.J.Meyer.He is the inspiration for many upcoming Music directors.And what makes him distinct is his uniqueness and search for new things all the time and consistency of creating music.Lets hope his upcoming albums fulfill all our expectations and take us to a new world.Cheers and god bless him for this two decades of great music!
